Imperfection Day

6/25/2018

Picture
I wish I could create a new holiday. If I could it would be “Celebrating Imperfections Day”. I think we all need it, at least I know I do. Especially today.

I’m a perfectionist at heart. While I am not good at math, in everything that doesn’t involve numbers, I strive for and want perfection. If “Celebrating Imperfections Day” was a holiday, this would be my greeting card:
Take a breath and reflect. Today is the day that everything is fine and it really doesn’t matter if things aren’t perfect. I give you permission to leave the house messy, to ignore the dirty dishes, and to order out for dinner. Your work is just fine. Send the proposal as is. Don’t second guess the decision. Do what you need to do to maintain work/life balance. Your hair doesn’t need to be brushed; your teeth don’t either for that matter. Don’t worry about the stain on the front of your shirt or the long to do list piling up next to you. Do your best and then give yourself permission to take a break. After all, it’s not possible for anyone to be perfect all the time. And more importantly, it isn’t needed. Celebrate you and all your imperfections. For this is what makes you, you!

I think I wrote that to myself today. I am struggling to keep the blog updated with entries. The good news is that several projects have come in, which I am excited about. The bad news is that I am learning the challenges that come with a sole-proprietor business.

Something has to give and, in my desire, to strive for perfection, it is bothering me that the blog isn’t getting  updated daily. That is and has always been my goal. So, in honor of my growth, to celebrate new projects and to provide a chance to enjoy summer, the blog will not be updated daily. Watch for posts to happen throughout the summer, not on a schedule – and we will pick up again with daily entries in the fall.
